🌿 Warboys Climate & Environment Group Launches Repair CafĂ© – Volunteers Needed!

Last modified date

Have you ever thrown away a perfectly good toaster because it had a minor fault? Or wished you knew someone who could stitch up a small tear in your favourite coat? That’s exactly what a Repair CafĂ© is here to help with — and Warboys hoping to start its own!

What is a Repair Café?
A Repair Café is a community event where volunteer repairers help people fix everyday items, from electrical appliances and clothing to bikes, toys, and more. The goal is to reduce waste, share skills, and bring people together over a shared spirit of problem-solving and sustainability. Instead of tossing broken items into the bin, we give them a second life, and often learn something in the process!

Why is this important?
Repair CafĂ©s are part of a growing global movement to tackle the throwaway culture and reduce landfill waste. They help cut carbon emissions, support a circular economy, and offer a real sense of community connection. They’re also a fantastic way for skilled locals, whether retired or still working, to share their talents and make a difference.

Join Us – We Need Repairers!
The Warboys Climate & Environment Group (WCEG) is looking for volunteers with repair skills to help bring our Repair CafĂ© to life. Whether you’re great with tools, handy with a needle and thread, or just love a good DIY challenge, your help would be hugely valued.

We’re holding an informal information session for anyone interested in getting involved:

📅 Saturday 28th June
🕙 10am – 12pm
📍 White Hart Pub, Warboys

Pop in, have a chat, and find out how you could be part of this exciting community project.

Can’t make it on the day? No problem, you can also get in touch directly:

Together, we can build something meaningful, reduce waste, and create a more sustainable Warboys, one repair at a time. ♻
